Salesforce Declares 9-To-5 Workday Dead, Will Let Employees Work Remotely

Revolutionary work moves by Salesforce
The COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020, and this has led to a lot of jobs being upended. The pandemic ushered in an era in which a large portion of the world’s population was not prepared for, and this has resulted in billions of people living through lockdowns, hundreds of millions experiencing sudden shifts in the way they work, and sadly, millions losing their jobs or means of livelihood. Alas, the time ahead looks questionable and unsure, although people are doing well in terms of adapting to the new normal. One thing is certain: the world of work may change forever, and the pandemic will leave scars on us; it will leave scars on the world. Would the world ever return to how it was before? If yes, how long would it take? What is the unsafe unidentified aftermath of the pandemic we face? How will people live, work and flourish in the post-COVID era? Will we go to our offices or place of work again? If yes, how often? Are the effects of the COVID-19 reshaping our societies forever? These and many more are the questions we ask ourselves often.
In this current era, the changes to the world of work seem to be the issue with the greatest concern. Companies, especially major tech giants like Salesforce, are beginning to look at how the pandemic has normalised work-from-home (remote work) and the resulting effects or consequences. The new normal is now the virtual way of running businesses and doing communications, social connections and interaction on a daily basis. Fortunately, this has even led to a boom in the communication industry as we now have a lot of video and audio-conferencing apps, providing a platform for this. Another aspect worth considering is that of the people who cannot work from home due to the nature of their work or jobs. What is their fate? How do we ensure they are not left behind? Surprisingly, Salesforce is doing well in terms of answering these questions and dealing with these challenges.
One good thing that Salesforce has been able to do or achieve over the years is building safety nets for their employees, even the most vulnerable of them. Salesforce has been able to transition smoothly from the established 9-to-5 office work shift to a work-from-home method of working, and this has helped the company in carrying out their operations better and faster while retaining almost all of their employees. 9-to-5 workday is dead! At least at Salesforce. Recently, Salesforce announced a permanent work-from-home policy for their employees in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this even includes three different work categories such as flex, fully remote and office-based. What does this mean? It means employees can now choose what their schedules should look like on a daily basis. In the midst of the various challenges (especially health issues) faced by employees and their respective families, it doesn’t just make sense for employees to keep reporting to work on a strict daily eight-hour shift.
