It has been estimated that no less than 10,900 COVID-19 death has been recorded. Of the 28,000 deaths recorded from the pandemic virus in California, Los Angeles is accountable for at least 40 per cent.

Again, in Los Angeles County, in 1 hour no less than 6 people died as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, it is believed that this surge was due to the gathering during Christmas and New Year. Asking people to gather again for the Grammy Award event in such a city as Los Angeles County would be totally out of place.

If this event had not been postponed, it could have amounted to spreading of the virus. This is because people travel far and wide for this Award ceremony to witness the moment and also feel what it is like to be in a room full of celebrities.

This event has a whole lot of music arts who have been nominated for one award or another. The event would be hosted by one of the foremost comedians, Trevor Noah. The likes of Dua Lipa, Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, among others are among the nominees. Beyonce knew Carter with nine different nominations would also be present.

This event is not exclusively for musicians and other musical arts; it also attracts a lot of celebrities, politicians, prominent business and people from all walks of life. To go on with this event in January 2021 would be foolhardy and a wilful tool in spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the safest thing to do by the organiser of the event is to postpone the event till it would be safe to host the event in Los Angeles County, which is the California epicentre of the virus.

If the various still persist till March which has been selected as the tentative date of the event, it means the event might be postponed again. It is better to postpone the event than to put a lot of lives in jeopardy.
